"Firda Eir: A Marine Green Transformation Symbol and Engineering Marvel"

Firda Eir, a symbol of innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector, has been given a new lease of life through an extraordinary conversion project carried out for the Norwegian Firda Sea Food Group. The Scandi Foula, an old platform supply vessel originally slated for scrapping, has been refurbished to a standard using advanced engineering and eco-friendly technologies, and converted into a state-of-the-art live fish carrier.

The 86.85 meter long and 19.70 meter wide Firda Eir has a carrying capacity of 5,000 m³ and is equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system. The ship provides energy efficiency thanks to its 1,058 kWh battery pack, while its dynamic positioning (DP) feature allows it to perform loading and unloading operations without being tied to farms. It can also produce between 6,000 and 8,000 m³ of fresh water in 24 hours, improving the living conditions of the fish it carries and enabling the treatment of potential diseases.

This project, realized in cooperation with Norse Shipyard and Firda Sea Food, represents not only a remarkable technical achievement, but also a great step towards sustainability and serving as an example for the industry.
